And, just like that, summer is over and it’s back to school!
Today was Camryn’s first day in Ms. Acres first grade class. She woke up quite cheery and excited. After breakfast, she sheepishly asked if she could wear a dress – to which I responded “Of course.” She thought she would have to convince me, but with the nice weather and the special occasion, I wasn’t going to say no!
She picked out her favorite Ivivva Dress and paired it with her fancy shoes from Tammi & Cliff’s wedding. We packed up her backpack and lunch box – this year they are from Disney’s Brave and have Merida on them! Then, after a quick picture in the kitchen, we set off on foot to school.
Our street is in the shade in the mornings and Camryn forgot how cool it would be… fortunately, when we got to the hill, we met up with a bunch of other kids heading to school – including Courteney and Londyn who are both in first grade too!
As the kids got up to the main road, we met up with more parents and kids – including her good friend (& classmate) Ashlea and her neighbor Sophia (also a first grader!) So, in all, there were 5 first graders, a plethora of parents and a smattering of other kids!
Once we got to school, Camryn got into her class line and waited patiently for Ms. Acres to come out. Her new classroom is in “C” wing, which used to be reserved for the bigger kids! The kids posed for one last set of pictures an then were whisked away into school.
School ended at 3pm. Hayden and I were there to greet Camryn – huge smile on her face and a successful first day!
