Applesauce

Yesterday, I realized that we had some apples in the fridge that just weren’t going to be good for eating, so instead of tossing them or making a “sugar-added” dessert…. Camryn and I made slow cooker applesauce!

We started by peeling the apples. It was the first time that Camryn used a peeler. She had so much fun and did pretty well too!

After we peeled them, I cut the cores out and gave Camryn 16 pieces from each apple to put into the slow cooker.

Once all the apples were peeled, cored, cut and in the slow cooker, we added some lemon juice, a bit of vanilla and some cinnamon.

Five hours later, the cooking was done and it was time to mash the apples up. Camryn grabbed the potato masher and took command.

It was awesome seeing the pride on her face as she worked on the applesauce. And, of course the biggest reward was that she got to eat some!

Fun day, need to do more cooking with the kids!
