Starting today with 9951 miles on the car after driving around Walnut Creek for the day yesterday.
Early start, thanks to my failed attempt to get some work done before everyone woke up. Lasted all of about 10 minutes. So after a quick breakfast at the hotel and packing the car, Sam took the wheel for a mostly unadventurous drive down I-5. Hayden noticed windmills on the hills shortly after we got outside Livermore.
We stopped at a rest stop and for lunch and gas before driving through the grapevine into Los Angeles!
We arrived at my cousin Jena’s around 2:30 in the afternoon. Our initial greeting was me holding Hayden at the front door to rush her to the bathroom! Once that duty was complete, we were given a brief tour of the house by her assistant and told to bring our stuff in. Sam brought everything inside while I went into the backyard with the girls.
There they played with Jesse, their 2 year old cousin. He took quite a liking to Hayden and tries to pinch her cheeks every time he sees her!
The girls played with the outdoor toys and then er got ready to get into the pool. Kathryn, my other cousin Kari’s daughter, came right at that time with her grandma Claire, and got to come swimming with us.
Camryn and Kathryn hit it off – played as if they had known each other for years! After swimming we went out to the driveway and played with the ride on toys. Hayden became a really good driver in the Lightning McQueen car.
John and Darcy came over with their kids Ben and Lila. Amazing seeing/meeting cousins… There’s an immediate trust level which us just great.
Dinner was outstanding, even though the girls weren’t willing to try the steak (ok, I didn’t try it either, but I loved the variety of veggies!)
After the cousins left, the girls went down to the theater room to watch a Zoe & Elmo movie before bed. We thought they would fall asleep, but no such luck.
All in all a great day!
